That's a LOT of beeeeees

Build your hive step-by-step, raise baby bees into defender or worker bees, research hive improvements, and most importantly - protect the queen from enemies (There are 14 waves! And the last one is HARD and repeats forever!) You're the beekeeper of this game, so make sure your hive thrives and you grow it to the point where you have A LOT of bees.

Hint: start from ordering babies in initial storage building. You will need basic bees to train them for becoming workers or defenders.

There are 5 types of bees in the game:

  • Queen Bee - the one and only queen bee, she lays eggs and nurtures baby bees. She is the essential bee in the hive, so if she dies - the game is over! Make sure to protect the queen bee.
  • Baby bee - bee child produced from Nexus. Grows into a basic bee.
  • Basic bee - the universal bee, collects a little honey and protects it from enemies. Grows out from a baby bee.
  • Defender bee - defends the hive from intruders. Trained from a basic bee in the Defender bee school. Comes in 3 levels - basic defender, rambo defender, and cyber-defender.
  • Worker bee - collects honey and wax. Trained from a basic bee in the Worker bee school. Comes in 3 levels - basic worker, crazy worker and robo-worker.

3 types of essential resources to build the hive:

  •   Honey - collected by the queen, workers, and basic bees.
  •   Wax - collected by worker bees.
  •   Magic Wax - gained from killing enemies.

Multiple types of enemies will attack the hive, so be prepared:

  • Wasp - the weakest enemy, but typically attacks in groups. Comes in 2 difficulty levels - basic wasp and cyber-wasp.
  • Birb - medium-level enemy. Comes in 3 difficulty levels - basic birb, rambo birb, and cyber-birb.
  • Bumble bee - the strongest enemy. Comes in 3 difficulty levels - basic bumble bee, medieval bumble bee, and cyber-bumble bee.

Enemies attack in waves, make sure to track the time before the next wave in the top left corner.

You can build the following structures in the hive:

  •   Worker bee school - trains worker bees from basic bees for resources. Allows researching and upgrading worker bees to a higher level.
  • Defender bee school - trains defender bees from basic bees for resources. Allows researching and upgrading defender bees to a higher level.
  • Honey storage - adds storage space to the hive, which allows for storing more honey.
  • Wax reactor - helps to transform honey into wax.
  • Magic Wax reactor - helps to transform honey into magic wax.

This was a fun little game :)

sick ass bee game.

My finger is dead

Nice little game. Good job!

Yeah… so, I think this is as close to winning as you can get. I walked away for like 30 minutes came back and had only lost like 100 of each kind of bee.

Haha yeah, it is not designed to be playable after final wave basically :D It it not polished as it was done in just a week for the jam. Thanks for playing!

I noticed a lot of activity on the game page recently, did someone reposted it somewhere?

Not entirely sure. For myself I saw a youtube video where someone reviewed the top 10 games from the jam. I watched it because I’ve been wanting to play around with Bevy more recently and was hoping to get some ideas and see what bevy was capable of these days.

I actually got a bug where all my buildings stopped building bees. You can see here there are a lot in the queue, but the buildings are stuck somehow/no new bees being created. Went from so many bees, to all my bees dying. Sad times. Great game though!

you need baby bees to get regular bee first. And only then you can train them into other types

Fun!

Yeah you pretty much beat the game :D This bug I think appears only after 30-40 minutes in game, it is floating point precision bug

there is no win sittuatio but great game

Cool game, I like it, really balanced.

Fun little game,

My strategy, after a few playthroughs, was to be maximize number of bees.

A few nice to haves

1. A wave counter, stopped playing because I didn't know how far I'd gotten, would be fun to have more targets after the final wave, something like achievements

2. maybe a different scaling of the honey production/defence between the two schools and the basic bee or a cost increase on babies after a certain number would reduce the need for so much clicking

2b. I guess a multibuy option would do the same without reducing the number of bees

3. Buying hive expansion would lengthen the game

3b. Prestige system with a reset but a larger hive on rebirth

@AndrewB330 Hope you don't take this as criticism, more of additional brainstorming.  Thanks for making this, I enjoyed it!

Only took in the name of this game and your tip in the instructions after writing this, bees is the goal please ignore 2 and 2b. D'oh!

Yeah your suggestions sound great, especially prestige system. I'm totally aware that game does not scale very well at the end game. It is just because of lack of time during the jam :D I needed to cut toooo much features in order to still make it working in time. Thanks!

Great game ! Managed to survive the final wave after a few tries but got killed  one or two waves after. Good difficulty balance. My only complaint (which is more of a nitpick), is the inability to mute the music. Not that the music is bad but it gets a bit annoying with time, and the ability to mute is useful in general. Other than that I had fun figuring out how to survive ! It feels somewhat close to reality, considering how many hives die every year... ;w;

Muting the tab is usually my go to
